David Shneer
David Shneer is director of the Center for Judaic Studies and Associate Professor of History at the University of Denver. He publishes and teaches classes on Russian and Jewish History and modern Jewish cultures. His books include the newly released New Jews: The End of the Jewish Diaspora (New York University, 2005), which argues that "diaspora" or dispersion is an outmoded way of looking at the contemporary Jewish map; Yiddish and the Creation of Soviet Jewish Culture (Cambridge, 2004); and Queer Jews (Routledge 2002). He is currently working on a book length manuscript on Soviet Jewish photographers, World War II, and the Holocaust.
