Welcome in the Sabbath Queen with Rebbetzin Hadassah Gross, the reigning queen of Neo-Hasidic Judeo Kitsch. Accompanied by musicians from the Storahtelling company, guest performers, and more than a few Sabbath angels, Rebbetzin Gross revives Sabbath in Toronto and redefines the sacred experience. A rich tapestry of traditional Sabbath melodies, untraditional stories and ancient mystical teachings for a modern age, this event is not to be missed.

Babble: Shultime Parsha Performance
A Storahtelling Ritual Performance
Shabbat Afternoon

In the beginning, there was only one language. Then a tower toppled, and translation was born. Join Storahtelling's Amichai Lau-Lavie, Brian Gelfand and Basya Schechter for the tale of a timeless tower in this ritual performance of Torah portion Noah, featuring traditional Hebrew chanting, dramatized English translation, live music and audience interaction.

“A tall woman, in a giant blond wig, dressed in white down to her gloved fingertips, Gross is a character who wraps vaudeville around an exploration of sexual identity with the aim of studying Jewish text and narrative. Gross's act is part of a broadening, unconventional movement to teach Torah and prayer to an ever-growing audience across America .” - Jerusalem Report , July 2004

The Shultime Performance will be followed by a roundtable discussion on Jewish Ritual and Performance moderated by Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett and featuring presentations by Aryeh Cohen, Amichai Lau-Lavie, Melissa Shiff, and Jonathan Webber. The roundtable will be held in the Resource Room at the Wolfond Centre from 3:30-5:00pm.
